Paris Calling LTD
To allow the organisation of the first Paris Calling edition in 2006, the British charity Paris Calling Ltd was set up with the core mission of furthering Franco-British cultural exchanges and international understanding by supporting emerging artists through all forms of contemporary art.
Its board is directed by both French and British professionals of the contemporary art field and benefits from both their expertise and critical appraisal. The artistic committee guarantees that the funding goes to the most valuable and cutting-edge projects.
Paris Calling Ltd is a non-profit organisation set up in 2006 administrated by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in the United Kingdom. It responded to the organisation of a major 7 months-event in visual arts which took place across 23 museums and galleries of the British capital. The purpose in the festival Paris Calling was to bring the French and British professionals to work on a common project, aiming at building long-lasting relationships between the two countries. As a result, Paris Calling had a major impact on the visual art scene and was largely covered in both the UK and French press. This unprecedented initiative was acclaimed in the professional body of both countries and unexpectedly gathered an incredible scope of nationalities working together on a single event.
Paris Calling became a label, a brand that proved long-term relationships to work between two countries. This led the Board of Trustees of Paris Calling Ltd to try to transpose this methodology into a broader artistic field to be able to continue its mission and reach its objectives.
Today Paris Calling Ltd continues its action in favour of all forms of contemporary art (visual or performing) in the United Kingdom through various grant programmes.
